“DUO AG” was founded in March 2003, based on earlier formerly operating I/U “Valči G”, founded in 1996.. Starting from 1998, Valchi was involved in the distribution of cold-pressed oils on pharmacy networks, both by distributing Latvian-pressed linseed oil and Siberian cedar-nut oil. When Iecavnieks entered the oil industry with high capacity in 2000, it was necessary to choose whether to continue with “buy-sell” or to start producing ourselves. It is too loud to say “by ourselves”, because for a long time only its founder, Gatis Poiss, worked alone in the company. It was decided to buy a set of equipment and to start pressing linseed oil. This continued until 2004, when the patent for the 'combined composition oil production' was received. From that time on, it became possible to produce diverse range of combined oils under the proprietary technology. Today the number of oils is already 24. An innovative technical solution was found that allowed 100% oil to be extracted more economically from different nuts and seeds, and currently there are 16 oils in our assortment.
“Oil Kitchen” is a brand of the company's “DUO AG”, which has been involved in the production of cold-pressing oils for nearly 20 years. The name “Oil Kitchen” got its origin, inspired by the name “The Hell’s Kitchen”. That being the name of a creative Latvian literates and artists community, created in New York, during the 50-60 s of the 20th century. We stand out among our competitors because of our relatively non-commercial and creative attitude towards developing and distributing an assortment of oils. We only start production of new oils if they appear to us to be interesting because of taste, smell or the importance of biochemical properties, by redirecting the later sales results into the second plan. We are working with the not-so-popular principle of action today - more quality not quantity. It doesn't matter to us if everything happens “more”, “faster” or “more expensive.” We stand for peace, joy and, once again, quality. Returning to our brand “Oils Kichen”, which we compare to “The Hell's Kitchen” - our location is a half-cellar which agree a little bit with the word “Hell,” but our “Hell” is an oil ( cold pressed) factory that meets the requirements of the FVS (Food and Veterinary Service). Today there are 2 people working in the company, and we are proud that there are also oils in our assortment that are not produced by anyone else in Latvia. Also, our pride is based on the fact that we have been able to keep the quality of our oils at constant high levels throughout all the years of operation.
We act as a “very small” company and do not think about significant expansion at the moment, because we believe that in that way we put ourselves at risk of losing the link with every oil we are pressing, and consequently the quality of oil and the “taste” of working.
